Cougar IS messed up, sure. But he's also a functioning sniper. I know snipers. They are all varying degrees of crazy, and some are downright psychotic, but there is a vulnerability to Cougar that makes him very, very human. And those qualities combined make him as solid as a rock, like you say.
Unlike Jensen, who is lots of pretty colors on the outside, and a huge black pit on the inside.
The idea was just too much fun to play with, and I have had SO much fun peeling back their layers.
